The Souper Bowl of Caring is a national program that takes place every year on Super Bowl Sunday. In the Souper Bowl, children and young people are encouraged to become engaged in service by collecting food and financial contributions to benefit local outreach organizations. This year, for the second year in a row, the youth of Church of the Atonement will collect soup and money to donate to Care for Real. Collections will be made at all 3 Sunday masses. For more information and to become involved, contact Peg Tomaszak at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are preparing and serving dinner for the 50 women in Sarah's Circle interim housing. Meet at 2:00 in the Atonement kitchen; we will be cleaned up and going to the shelter by 4:45. If you would like to participate in today's meal or you are interested in more information about this outreach ministry, please e-mail outreach.
Back by popular demand! Everyone is urged to pack up those holiday cookies--or buy some--and bring them in to be wrapped for our local shelter partners! Please bring your cookies to the kitchen before the mass at 8, 9, or 11. Following each mass, we will wrap them for the shelters. This was a huge success last year and we look forward to topping that with a bigger and better event this year!
Our annual holiday gift-wrapping of hats, scarves, and gloves for those served by our local shelter partners will take place today following every mass. Everyone is invited to join us during coffee hour to help with this important outreach ministry. We will have gifts for men, women, and children.
In loving memory of Father Thomas Brady, and in respect of his long career serving the parishioners of St. Clements Episcopal Church in Harvey, IL, we are assembling holiday gift packages for outreach to the Harvey community this year. After every mass today, we will wrap hats, scarves, gloves, socks, and other gifts for men, women, and children. Join us during coffee hour to lend a hand!
Personal hygiene kits will be assembled for the men, women, and children served by our local shelter partners following every mass today. Join is in the parish dining room and lend a hand during coffee hour!
Neighborhood kids and their parents are invited to stop in at Atonement on October 31 between 3:00 and 6:00 PM. We will be serving a light meal and distributing Halloween fare to keep trick-or-treaters going strong!
This event will be held on the church's North Lawn. This event's purpose is to bring together neighborhood residents, members of the parish, and local law enforcement and government personnel for an opportunity to meet each other and to promote camaraderie and safety in our community. Come out for a summer's evening filled with live music, conversation and snacks/beverage.
A core outreach subcommittee will meet in the Elizabethan Room to discuss the issue of Christian persecution. This initial meeting will strive to identify priorities and directions for future investment.
